New Year New Healthy Habits!

New Year New Healthy Habits!

A new year is finally here. With it comes new years resolutions! Many of us strive to become a better version of ourselves. Either by eating better, working out more, or managing our finances. We all have to start from somewhere but the hardest part is starting!

I know at least for me it is hard to start a new habit but doing some research I found out about the 21-90 rule. The rule is simple enough. Commit to a goal for 21 straight days. After three weeks, the pursuit of that goal should have become a habit. Once you've established that habit, you continue to do it for another ninety days. I know easier said than done but I believe with a community supporting you and some dedication it is possible. Below is a list of the most common habits that you can add to your list.

1. Diet - Eating a healthier diet means less fast food and more cooked meals. I know I am not much of a cook but luckily for us, there are many great programs out there that make this process easy. One of my personal favorites is HelloFresh. Check them out and let me know what you think.

2. Exercise - No need to count the minutes. Just do everything you can to fit more steps into your day. No matter how you get it, physical activity can help defuse stress, burn calories, and boost self-esteem. I know for many of us that are just getting started it is hard to know what exercises to do. Luckily one of our members informed us about BeachBody. A great program that offers workout routines that you can do from home. The best part, no exercise equipment is needed.

3. Sleep - At least talking to my physician who recommends trying to get 7-8 hours every night which I know is hard to do especially for a lot of us working moms. A place where we could start is trying to keep a regular sleep cycle – go to bed and get up at the same time every day. One great program available that has helped me is Sleep Sense. They provide a lot of great features for women of all ages and especially for sleep-deprived parents.
